Hello, I am working in the hospitality industry and seeking advice on the number of paternity leaves that can be availed by male associates who are working in the private sector, specifically in the hospitality industry. I request guidance on any relevant policies, along with an explanation of the applicability of the attached PDF that I downloaded.

Dear Kruti,

Paternity leave does not currently fall under legal and mandatory leave according to any statute. However, progressive organizations do provide paternity leave to their male employees to offer emotional and physical support to their spouses who have given birth, as well as to enjoy the initial period with the newborn baby together. The duration of such leaves typically ranges from 5 to 15 days and can be availed anytime from the day of birth up to three months after. This benefit can be availed for up to two children, and the approval of the leave is subject to the submission of a medical certificate.

Thanks for sharing the information, Shailesh Sir. So, it means it solely depends on the management to assign paternity leave; numbers are not defined. Yet, I need to draft a policy on this for my hotel, so I seek your guidance in formatting, leaving the number of days' leave period blank.

Regards,
Kruti
