i joined cite hr last month...and alsoj oined new retail co. as AM-HR Last month.... my new co. is Pharmacy co....i hv 2 set up hr Deptt. for my co. So Seniors plz guide me wat 2 do ?
i hv dificulty in Leave policy..Bcz our co. is come under HEALTH CARE & MEDICINES...
what should be no. of C.L,S.L,E.L for a retail chain pharmacy...working hrs ?
if working hrs is more..wat is the procedure for calculating overtime.....?
Can we open Pharmacy stores on national HoLidays...bcz we come under Health care & medicines ...??

For Setting up a Hr Deptt. Following things should be Considered ..
1.Making personal files all employees..
2.Give them emp. Codes like ap0001 and 0001...u can add first 2 alphabets of your co.
3.Maintain a Attendence register or start punching Machine system for Attendence.
4. Make Job Profiles of Every Employee.
5.Setting up working hours at stores and Their Weekly off days.
6.Make policies..like Dress policy,Attendence policy...Leave policy,Employee handbook later... u can find policies format in Cite HR only...

Leave policy can be same as it is for manufacturing units because there is no such difference in terms of Leaves. So as usually you can give 7 CL & 7 SL & one El on every 20 working days.
Working hrs - first of all you have to differentiate the workman & staff in your company. OT can be given to workman, & you can give compensatory off to staff members on any additional working. for this you have to make Compensatory off rules. OT can be calculated -
Basic salary/26/8*OT hrs*2 (you have to pay double OT,that's why it is multiplied by 2)
Ya you can open on NH.

As your retail chain falls under Health care & Medicines. You can open your store all 365 dys, but you have to get the redemption from labour officer.

I think Earned leave differs from every organisation. Some Concern give Earned leave on completion of their probation period.
Explained below is the Leave Policy followed in our concern
Calculation of Earned leave will be as per the calendar year (Jan - Dec)
Employee joining the organisation anytime during the calendar year will be given leave for the reminder of the calendar year on Pro-rata basis, but this is applicable only for Sick & Casual Leave. Earned Leave will be credited to employee only on completion of a year with the organisation. i.e 12dys will be credited.
Upto a maximum of 10 days of unutilized earned leave may be encashed at the end of each calender year ( Dec 31 )
An employee can maintain a balance of maximum 24 days of earned leave. Sick and casual leave cannot be carried forward to next year and will lapse at the end of the year.
For any clarification, pls feel free to revert back.

I am handling HR of a retail company in mumbai..I am having difficulty in formulating leave policy. My CEO wants to give paid leaves (CL, Sl and PL) to employees only when they complete one year of service in the organisation. ..Also, there are no fixed holidays on public or bank holiday...
Please guide me as in what are the statutory requirement regarding leave policy in mumbai for retail setup and also how do I convince my CEO that most companies provide paid leaves (CL and SL) after an employee is confirmed/completes probation. Also, I would like to know which public holidays are compulsary and how many such holidays are optional.
What Leave Policy can I suggest to the CEO??
