@ Rahulmukherjee:
Hello sir !! I am B.E in electrical engineering. Could you please throw some light on whether i can pursue a course in health administration. I have taken admission to Tata institute of social sciences for that. I fear due to my lack of IT experience, i would be sidelined during placements. I have heard that IT companies prefer those experienced in IT domain, to work in healthcare IT sector. Is it true ?

@Nipen_d

Apologies for this delay in my reply (in the event I have not replied to you by email... I did get quite a few mails with regard to my reply here).

I do not think you need to fear TISS sidelining you during placements. It is too reputed a brand that it is entirely unlikely that they would be cavalier towards you. Remember, everyone has something unique that they bring to the negotiating table. You need to figure what it is that is unique about you and your talent/skills that a prospective recruiter would find compelling.

IT skills can be learned, especially when it comes to Healthcare Administration, I think. Complexity comes into play when there are too many stakeholders and everyone needs to be kept happy.

Just so that you are aware, there would be openings within the hospitality industry for someone with a Healthcare Administration qualification. It is merely a suggestion, but do read up on the niche oppotunities that are available. I would also advice that you depend on yourself and your own efforts in securing a job that is meant for you or else you will find yourself compromising for something that might never have been one of your choices.

Hope this helps. Cheers!
