Hi
I would like to know what are the ideal wages for an office boy in an IT company? His working hours are 9 hours per day and the weekends are off. His work mainly comprises of cleaning and taking care of small errands.
Please put forward your suggestions.
Thanks

Dear MBhandari
Welcome to CiteHR.com !!!
I feel happy to note that you are taking great care in looking for benchmark salaries for Office Boy in your company - a class of employees who are generally exploited and paid minimum wages in certain companies.
Since, in future he will be expected to operate photocopy, fax, coffee machines; deal with banks and offices while delivering and receiving documents, I suggest you keep the salary "above the minimum wages for skilled workers". How much more depends on lot of other factors. However, do remember that the organized sector is expected to lead in this aspect, rather than just follow the minimum rates notified by the government.
Warm regards.

Dear Member,
If your unit is in Haryana State then your offer is less than minimum wages fixed for un-skilled workers. Here it is Rs. 4348.21 per month. Therefore, first see where your establishment is situated & then fix wages of this boy at least more then minimum wages fixed by the appropriate Govt.
