Hi,
I want to know how others organisation celeberate their employee's birthday.
Is there any modus operandi or its done in a random /casual manner.
I have also heard employees getting leaves for the same.
Iam looking forward to set some system for such occasions , where employee can feel the sense of care&concern.

Hi,

you can plan some inexpensive and good ideas like

1. sending out birthday mail to employee and mark cc to rest( there r enough images and greetings if you search google)

2. if you know some wholesalers then try to get some greetings which you can place on employees desk(if budget till rs 20/- per employee is not an issue)

3. Also, many companies give a small token of brday wish like small teddy bears or wall hangings(again bulk purchase from wholesaler)

4. u can try placing a happy brday note or flowers on employees desk along with balloons

5. at the end of the month or last working day u can get a brday cake and ask all the brday boys and girls to come n cut the cake.

6. many companies make it somewat more special by giving this birthday day off as special off to employees and leave a mail to person copying everyone.

7. at times a personal touch means alot than tokens/gifts so even i have observed that companies go in for standing 1 minute celebration. The members of team /Bay stand and sing birthday wishes for the employee once the person reaches his/ her workstation.

These were some ways i could think off, if you have some new idea then please let me know too.

we used to organse a combined party for all the employees whose birthday falls in a particular month on the last working day. We buy cakes and snacks and request all the birthday employees to cut it. Collection of money is made on a monthly basis.

in my opinion the best way to celebrate the birthday should start with a official birthday greetings to his mail.
policy should be framed to:
Give him a off in second half.
an amount to the extent of Rs.1500/-to be reimbursed upon submission of restaurant bill/food bill on the said day towards celebrating the occassion with his family/friend.
The employee will be happy.

Apart from all above... I have observed one more very good part of the Bday celebration..
The usual ceremony of gathering with the management and cake cutting.. The coordinator also plays a small presentation over the Bday Boy, his family, his achievements, vacations with the photographs etc.
The Bday Boy or baby is asked for the resolution for next year entire year. THe compliance to last year resolution is also checked... and the cherry on top is the resolution is anything personal wish or aims. Be it buying car/ home to loosing weight ...anything...
I found it very effective.

hi all
i ll tell u a funny incident which happened in my organisation
Mostly some andhra people put their date of births wrong, i mean their actual date of birth is one and they put it in the school another, so we as employers only know their dob according to their certificates. hence i sent wishes and asked the one of my employee to collect his gift. he came to me and told me that that day its not his birthday, and asked me not to tell anyone for two reasons, one its actual birth date is different and secondly everyone starts asking for party, hahahah.... well i obliged and told him to tell me his real birthdate, then onwards i asked all my employees to give me their actual date of birth also, if they want we will celebrate else we may atleast send wishes on behalf of the organisation.
