Dear Sir, One of my friends worked in a construction company from January 2014 to April 2016. At that time the company asked Bank passbook and mobile number for UAN generation. The UAN generated and pf deducted. In 2016 he left the company and used of mobile number registered in pf. Since then he is not able to update or merge the UAN. The construction company also did not listen to the concerns.

When he joined another company In 2017 he got a new UAN Number. Now he wants to merge the two UAN Numbers. what is the process?

1. First company UAN generated by Bank Pass Book and Mobile No in 2014
2. Second company UAN generated By Adhar Card, Bank Pass Book and Mobile No in 2017

How to merge Both UAN into a single account

Now he should first activate the UAN. Before that please ensure that his mobile number is active. In order to activate the UAN, visit the member portal and go to the link activate UAN and follow the instructions. You will get a temporary password and then with that you can log in to the member portal and then change the password so that it can be remembered. Then go to One member one PF field under Online services. Give the UAN to be merged with the current UAN. You will get the details of the previous organisation also there. Then submit it. The transfer will be made in due course provided there is no change in the spelling of the name of the member or father's name or date of birth etc. A change in the details of the member will cause to make the process bit difficult, otherwise, it is easy.

Then how was the current UAN generated? Companies do it by themselves without asking the employees just for the sake of compliance and not for the benefit of employees. Ask the employer to change the mobile number first in the PF records and then you activate the UAN.

Fill in the Joint Declaration which is to be signed by the member and the previous employer and mention all the missing details and mention the current phone number and old phone number and also aadhar number.
EPFO will correct the details from its end. After this, the member will be able to transfer and merge it with the currect uan number online through employee portal

The additional mobile number which is linked to Adhar should be linked to the UAN. As suggested by Swetley you can fill a joint declaration and submit it to the EPF Office. Since, it is changing mobile number, I think you can do it through the employer portal without a hard form of joint declaration. Anyway, contact the HR person in the company and ask to do it.
