Hi Team,

As far as I know, the maximum carry forward EL is 45 days, but I just wanted to confirm. Is it 45 days of leave until one resigns, or is there any other clause to consider?

If someone resigns after 12 years of service, are they eligible for either 45 days of EL encashment or 180 days of EL for encashment?

Thank you.

Hi,

Accumulation and carry forward of Earned Leave is company-specific. When the accumulated leave goes beyond certain limits, employers will keep a certain number of leaves, and the balance of Earned Leave will be encashed.

Regarding Earned Leave encashment after resignation, the outstanding Earned Leave balance on the day of relieving will be encashed.

If there is a ceiling on the accumulation of EL, then that limit is not exceeded at all. Once the ceiling is reached, the excess leave lapses once for all, and the employee cannot make any use of them.

If the credit limit is 45, then there is no chance of encashing 180 days. The query is not clear on the ceiling limit.

Please share the gist of your leave policy (you need not mention your company name) to enable us to give you a specific reply.

How are 45 days of EL and 180 days of EL calculated? The second line of your query is not clear and is rather confusing.
