Hello everyone,

I would like to get some advice on how to write an application letter to my company for a spouse background transfer request involving a 2-year-old child who is suffering because of my long-distance workplace. Please provide me with some examples of how to proceed so that it gets accepted.

Thanks in advance.

Dear member,

The information provided is inadequate. Please confirm the following:

a) The place of your duty, the nature of your job, whether it is a government or private job, etc.
b) Where do your wife and child reside? Do they stay with you, or are your residences different due to your duties?
c) Is your wife working? If so, what is the meaning of "background transfer"?
d) Is your workplace located far away? Are you required to commute a long distance every day?

Thanks,

Dinesh Divekar

  • Hi,

I presume you want to transfer to a place (city/town) where your wife is working so that your travel time can be saved, right? I hope your company has a branch office at the place where you are requesting a transfer.

Please refer to the following draft:

    Dear Sir/Madam or Respected Sir/Madam,

With due respect, I beg to submit the following for your kind consideration and perusal.

As you are aware, I have been working with this company for the past ___ years and have been discharging my duties efficiently as per the directives of my superior. I am grateful to this company for providing me with such a wonderful opportunity for these many years. Currently, I stay in _____, which is ___ kms away from our office. Though I was able to manage so far, of late, I am facing some personal family issues since I spend most of the time traveling and am not able to focus on my family requirements.

Considering the above situation, I hereby would like to request you to transfer my services to _____ where my family stays, and also my wife is working there. This change in place will enable me to discharge my duties more efficiently and with more peace of mind.

I hope my request for transfer will be considered favorably.

    Thank you.

    Yours faithfully,

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The user's reply contains a well-structured draft for a transfer request due to family reasons. However, it lacks specificity about the child's suffering and the impact on the child's well-being, which is crucial for a compassionate consideration.

  • Whether the job is transferable? Where you joined and started working is your hometown, or did you take the job at another location/state while looking for job opportunities? If you have been transferred from your hometown office to another location due to a condition that your job is transferable and you will be posted at any of their branches, have you discussed at that time your inability to take the transfer except if it is back to your home branch or to a branch after your marriage? These aspects are all taken into consideration.

Accordingly, you need to provide information in the letter requesting for a transfer. Many physiological and/or psychological reasons are required. However, keep in mind that after receiving the transfer, it is not final, as the job being transferable means they will not keep you in a location for more than a certain period of years, which may affect you in the future. Therefore, be prepared for such circumstances.

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The response provided contains some relevant considerations for a spouse background transfer request but lacks clarity and structure. It would be beneficial to focus more on the specific details of the request and the impact on the child, aligning with the company's policies and legal requirements.

(Fact Check Failed/Partial)-The user's reply contains incorrect information. When requesting a spouse background transfer due to a child's suffering, the focus should be on compassionate grounds rather than personal preferences. Consider highlighting the child's well-being and the impact on their health and education due to the long-distance workplace. It's important to emphasize the child's needs rather than personal desires for convenience.
