Dear All,

I'm currently working as an HR Executive in the Statutory Compliance Department. It's been 3 months since I joined this department, but so far, I haven't learned much because they haven't assigned me any work related to statutory compliance. At times, I have doubts about whether focusing on statutory compliance will lead to better career growth. However, I am very interested and eager to learn thoroughly.

I would appreciate any suggestions on how to kick-start my career in this domain effectively. Additionally, I am seeking guidance on how to apply my theoretical knowledge of statutory compliance in a practical field.

Thank you for your assistance.

They are not giving you jobs to do? Surprised. So what, go get them. Volunteer yourself, request them to share responsibilities/job. Statutory compliance is an interesting area and very important too. Once accomplished, it will give job satisfaction, and you can be one of the power centers of your department.

Browse on the net on various stipulations, returns to be filed, documents to be maintained, etc., list them out, and prepare a checklist. This checklist should be prepared in such a way as to show every compliance with target dates, all in one. Compare this with what has been complied with and what has not. You'll now find yourself in a position of investigators, listing out where and what your counterparts are not complying with, and point them out to your colleagues. I'm sure definitely a few they would have missed out; it could be anything like registers, returns, notifications, compliances, etc. Sure, they'll come to confer with you day in and day out to check for themselves.

As you are working in the Statutory Compliance Department, please consider this as an opportunity to learn the labor laws that are being followed in factories/organizations. By specializing in applicable labor laws, you can enrich your career in this segment.

It happened with any generalist beginner. I would suggest you to watch or follow some of the best labor law channels on YouTube; I used to prefer "Labour Law Advisor." Talking about tasks, start with "Time office management" and request your manager to give you old legal cases' files and diaries; here you can have all things practically before yourself.

Also, I got my first legal compliance case after 5 months. Have some patience.
