Dear Sir, I work as Sr Hr Executive, we have few employee who travel for official work which requires more than 24 hrs. Employees are asking for comp off ? Is it allowed or not ?

Employees who travel are at which level? Within the city, outside the city, or out of India? Your post is not clear. Are they traveling on a working day or a weekend holiday? Basically, it is company-specific. The generally followed practice is that for such categories of employees, if travel is on a weekday, their absence from duty will be marked as on duty. Either tour allowance or deputation allowance or both will be paid. Another point is, by virtue of their position, if they are traveling (which means their nature of work requires compulsory travel), they should be aware that it is part of their job.

Hi Employees travel outside Mumbai city. They travel as and when work arises, not specifically on weekdays; it may be in between. We only pay for travel and food allowance to the employee.

My question is, are employees eligible for comp time off if they travel on normal working days?

Based on the frequency of such travels, you may recommend compensatory time off or some additional allowances. To reiterate, this is company-specific. Please ensure that employees in this category are covered under the Personal Accident Policy if they are not already covered under Workers' Compensation Insurance, considering their extensive travel.

Dear Friend,

Asking for comp time off by staff is common and understandable. To facilitate this, management needs to implement a policy for compensation, but providing comp time off may not be feasible.

One possible solution is to reimburse the time spent by staff for which they are requesting comp time off through their travel expenses, on an hourly basis (@ = one day's basic pay per hour worked extra).
