Hi
I am working in a Urban Cooperative Bank having a branch at Mysore as an Asst.Manager.
I been in service of the organization since 22 years. Very recently I was transferred from
Bangalore Branch to Mysore Branch on promotion.
But, my wife working in the same brank since 15 years in the position of Junior Asst.
and have a daughter of 7years old studying in II standard in a school of Bangalore
I have a plan of getting my wife transferred to Mysore and change the schooling of
my daughter to Mysore.
My wife had already approached the Chief Executive Officer of our organization in writing
for transfer to mysore on the grounds of family circumstances.
Can I also approach the management for getting transfer of my wife to lead a normal family
life in the interest of enhancement of womens status in all walks of life and to ensure the education
and welfare of the children and to ensure the welfare of the aged dependants.

Greetings,
Your request seem genuine . Assuming that you have already made an assessment of the availability of opportunity to fit another resource within the centre, what are the resistance that you are likely to see ? How do you suggest to resolve them?
Furthermore , couples working in non-reporting relationship , should n't create any administrative concerns.
Looking forward to hear from you !

what (Cite Contribution) said is right. If your wife is not directly reporting to you, it is fine. There may be some murmurs and gossip in any organisation where husband and wife are working.
I have seen a peculiar case in a Office where the Wife was in superior position and husband was in sub-ordinate role. Just image how they maintained a balanced life.

Dear Narayanaswamy,
There is no mention whether you both worked in the same branch at Bangalore prior to your promotion and specific rule or bye-law if any prohibiting the employment of husband-wife involving superior-subordinate hierarchial relationship in the same branch.Otherwise, no harm in making a representation as you have mentioned.

The transfer policy towards working couple in multi-locational establishments normally will be to keep the spouses at the same place. However having regard to the nature of financial transactions in banks, confidentiality and security issues, it is doubtful whether a bank posst a couple in the same branch. However it depends up on bank's transfer policy or service rules or any statutory provisions in this regard as the Coop.banks are regulated by the Coop.Act of the State. However there is nothing wrong in approaching the management with a request for transfer of your wife to Mysore. If it is permissible under bank's norms, the bank can accede to the request.

Earlier I worked in a Public Sector Bank. Since Bank deals with Money, high level of security procedures are followed to prevent any misuse.
Hence, to ensure that there is no scope for any issues Husband and Wife are not posted in the same Branch.
If your request is not for posting in the same Branch, you may always approach management for transfer.

Apart from the above views, would like to mention that the transfer request should be from the employee and not from the spouse even though working under the same organization. In your case your wife has already applied for transfer wait for the reply.
