Greetings of the day!!!
We are a Japanese multinational company currently in process of establshing our third plant in India near Bangalore. We already have two plants one in Pune, Maharashtra and second one in Haryana. In connection with the recruitment for Bangalore plant I want to know about the difference in the laws or rules if any between the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka.
HRites having knowledge in this regard are requested to throw some light on it.

Dear Sampat ji,
In connection with recruitment, there is no difference in law or rules except in Karnataka, there may be a law to employ local people up to certain percent like in Haryana.
However, in impementations of labour laws and rules there is deffernce in every State. It a vast subject. You need to have your own study in this regards. You need to hire an advisor like me who can guide you / advise you from time to time.
In this forum you can get answers to your specific question. You need to judge the answers correctly.

Yes, I second with Keshav on the matter. I am sure you will be already having a consulant for all your labor matters in Maharashtra/Harayana, they should be able to guide on the this.
But, we as a corporate entity must be aware of all the laws of the land, as interpretation of the same might differ from person to person and best way to learn about them is to visit the nearest Labor Commissioner Division Office and seek guidance from them. Usually around this office there would be aslo various book stalls selling related books which will be help for you going ahead.
You will agree that though consultants are good and work for our benefits, its better to equip ourselves with all the requirements least totlally rely on them for surprises later.
Wish you all the best.

Dear Sampat,
There is a law differences between Maharashtra and Karnataka.
1. You need to appoint 100% local people in labour class group (Local means resident of Karnataka).
2. Minimum wages difference (Lesser than Maharashtra) and it will increase yearly once (April)
3. Regarding recruitment there is no rule except Labour class.
It is my suggestion if you feel difficulties tie up with local consultant for recruitment purpose and take local consultant advise for legal opinion.
For any help you can contact me any time.
