Dear Seniors, Greetings to all ! Many people/employees who don't know or know little about the functions of HR comment on HR staff that your job is very cool and relaxed always, but actually we are the sufferers and running the org in terms of manpower which is key.
My question is what was the main reason to feel like that pls share your explanations which will give moral strength to All HR's (Highly Responsible persons)

You are very true Sir, I have heard lots of comment flying around regarding HR and HR department from Employees. The other group who are widely teased are the sales personals.

People think that HR’s don’t have work in office and they are always free.

My observation and opinion:

As humans I feel we are all, always having needs. The more they get, more and more they want and the expectations get going higher.

Coming to the point: HR is mostly found interacting with employee’s , external vendors, on phones calling candidates or talking to employees who are on leave etc.., they have a wide range of work which cannot be listed down on a time sheet and cannot be quantified as work when it comes to reporting of work. Whereas when an engineer or a developer does a work it is quantifiable and can be easily converted to work done as the results are mostly immediate. The HR work and work content cannot be measured immediately but The Organization culture, The discipline, Number of employees who have spent more than 5 years in the same organization, Employee retention rate are all the efficient effectiveness of HR and the HR department within the Organization.

Many a times HR’s fail to communicate efficiently that they are the real reason behind bringing the right policy or the right decisions through the Management. My times HR play timid roles and project that The Decision was made by the Management and they prefer playing safe. These truly back fires when the Management fails to appreciate or highlight the efforts made by the HR department in coming up with the major decisions.

Hence employees look at the management as the providers and the try to reach the provider through the mediator called HR, once when they receive what they want from the provider they ignore and no longer want the mediator until when next similar situation comes.

Management makes the mistake of not honoring the HR team and department effectively. In organizations where the Management gives more honor to the HR department their employees also respect and honor the HR department.

HR personals need a lot of right grooming they need to carry themselves as respectable professionals and practice what they preach. Punctuality is the key here, which many of us fail to follow. HR personals must always remember that they are also employees but with special responsibilities hence the way they carry them within and outside the organization matters a lot to employees and the management.

yeah HR always relax and dont work and just do some paper work , this is what happens most of time hence people have this thinking towards HR. but truth is something else

Really HR’s Job was thankless and everyday HR needs to attain his maximum Heights of Everest in order to get things done through others as our main principle stands on.

Truly said. but i feel it has nothing to do with other dept employees. actually it's the mind set of people/humans to think other doing nothing or doing the least required work only. if we get into their shoes probably we would start thinking the same.
HR people are not angels come from heaven. they are also human being. as far as responsibilities are concerned, every one has sword hanging on their heads. it is just our mind set that we think others are doing nothing.
its like sales people generate the revenue to run the business but one can easily say "Oh! that's their job. they are being paid for that. they do get incentives for extra work"
So please do not feel sorry. Being an HR person for me HR is the best job. think when you are responsible to hire right employee to make the business run and then see the level and importance of your job.

The very old and important concern but one thing that I would like to start with can be found in my signature. All HR people must keep this in our mind always.

Second, I buy that many people who don’t know about HR and function use comments or says something like you guys have experienced /experiencing but what we need to do is that we must not take these too seriously.

Only HR person knows what he is and doing for Organization and for all the departments/employees comes under Organization.

HRM is not just a profession but a very mature and responsible function/field of work than others where we, only WE (HR PEOPLES) are responsible for every and each department comes under any organization. Accounts & Finance, Sales & Marketing, Purchase/Procurement, Planning & Project and all other department are just responsible for their work but HRD (HRM) is the only department works for all of them support them in many ways, and that we need to understand, and let the other knows this too.

Do not care about people who having this little and imperfect knowledge about our work and responsibilities but we need to handle these things wisely. HR people having a difference style, appeal, attitude according to the need of their profession, which make them different and unique entity in Organization and most important than others.

Can an organization/company stand without HR Department and their functioning? Who is providing those resources they are working with and enable them to stand here in achieving the set targets/objectives by Organization for them?

Who is responsible for compensation management? Is Accounts & Finance able to find resource and manage their compensation or can just transfer the fund (salary/Wages) to employee?

Is that Sales & Marketing department never seeks any help by HRD from having good resources and motivation program for then or are they able to do so at their own without any help of HRM (T&D)?

Can other department work for organization without having HRM/HRD?

There are numbers of discussion already took place on this topic and have many response by very seniors and professionals too. Many people criticize and believe that any organization/company can stand without having HRD but practically it is not possible.

One can go to history where the initial form of HRD/HRM and department was responsible for this function of HR was Personnel and Administration Department (P&A). From a supervisor (who is/ was responsible to manage the work and execution by workers and their attendance and other work) to a cashier who was responsible to make salary & wages of workers and distribution was also a part of this though this and that people must not forget.

Again I would say “The people who having little or imperfect knowledge or don’t know about HRD/HRM and their responsible” have no right to raise finger on us”

Every HR personnel must proud to be a HR Person/Professional

Thanks sir for the valuble reply but whenever we never concern on other people whatever the gossips they play with us, when we allow them to flow like that ultimately at one point either it may burst or create nameless dept in the organisation..
