Dear Senior,
I am working as HR Associate in reputated company form last 6 months, 1st month data entry work was given in the name of preparing MIS.
In between in our co. Sr HR Executive resigned due to which 70% workload was given to me, I handled it for 2 months after that they recruited new person for the same post.
Now they are making me scan all the documents and they are many, I was told i have to handle MIS but they are not allowing to do so, i feel as if i am only there to clear backlogs no respect, no value.
I have got a opportunity of administrative officer in a college.
should i switch.

Dear Ma'am

Well you don't mentioned your Edu. Degree and previous experience/Fresher, you are assigned to job as of your skills in computer literacy especially in Adv.Excel or some adv.software skills utilised to prepare MIS reports and you illustrated your increasing Job responsibilities. HR role is hectic, should be able handle all activities related to humans resources involved in all areas of a firm. A strong HR grows in rigid environment taking up all challenges. HR involves Personnel aspect, Welfare aspect, IR aspect and HRD.

This is a large circle encompassed with different roles and responsibilities, first to choose career in HR be sure of your likely role in any of them know your beginning and ultimate goals in seeking career in HR. One thing is real whether Man or Women today in the eyes of boss we will get equal humiliation or abuse.

"Practice Continuously how much heavier you may feel, your determination should increase"

remedy - Ma'am 1+ year of experience is ok to try for in the same field, start searching and believe women are more preferable in HR and likely to corporates.

switching often is proven dangerous be sure of it. What ever career you choose try to be innovative you will find happiness and learning is continuous process upgrade your qualifications and skills to escalate new dimensions and achievements in your career.

Be patient and take a chance to change in similar field since you are dealing with best tools (MIS) of HRM.

Good Luck

Dear Mithila,
You are just 6 months old in the company. it is not advisable to switch over.
Even though you do all the backend work like Scanning, Data entry etc. you have a lot of time to learn a lot. Understand the basic of Statutory compliance's, MIS, Manpower Budget, Recruitment etc. Learn every day so that with a year you will be thorough with the HRM of your organisation.
In future if they are willing to promote you as an Sr. HR you can take it or else you can attend the interview elsewhere.

Dear Mithila,

You have managed different tasks within the scope of your role in less than six months. Your further delivered on a role which was beyond your level. Congratulations, you have almost achieved learning of two roles , right in one that too in such a short duration.

I echo Kalyan and request you to share your educational background. Please share the job description to the new role. 'Administrative officer' is a broad term. How big is the institution and what about your growth there? You have worked less than a year in your first job, so would need to build stability in your next role. Please weigh not just the pros, but the cons. Suppose if you run into a similar situation in your new job where you will not be given due recognition for your contributions, how will you still keep your self motivated? How is the new role an add on, even if there is not a great difference in the salary or job location?

I am not asking you to reject the new role, but consider it for the right reasons. Please make sure , once you make your choice , you should be able to stick around for next few years. Wish you all the best !
