Hi,
As per Fctories Act, employee can work maximum 48 hrs in a week i.e. 8 hrs in a day and for 6 days max. every after sixth day, there must be an holiday to that employee. So if followed this, for assuming 4 weeks in a month, he needs to work 192 hrs in a month.
However, for maximum working hrs, there are different concepts under the Factories Act. For certain industries, which are specifically mentioned in the schedule attached in the Factories Act, there is exumption of maximum working hrs i.e. 48 hrs in a week & 8 hrs in a day. In that case, the employee can work for more than one shift i.e. for 16 hrs in a day (continuing 2 shifts).
I with, I have cleared you doubt

Dear all
The maximum working hour act is only applicable to factories. But what in case of other fields like IT industries, consultancies services. Is the factory acts are not applicable to these fields ?if so, than why?
Because when I was working in a consultancy service they said that there is no holiday ,only sunday afternoon is closed.daily working hours is 8 hours per day. Please clear my doubts.

If it is not a Factory then it comes under Shops & Establishments act, there also it is 8 hrs a day / 6 days week. Either a factory or Shop after working for 6 days @ 8 hrs there should be a weekly off with pay. If any body is asking for working over and above this then that organization has to face the consequences.
