Would like to know how to handle situations where employees are exchanging job links with each other and applying for jobs and going for interviews giving fake reasons.
On one hand, me as the only HR, is trying to build up on the manpower ( current company size is 40 ); on the other hand, people are leaving ( few for genuine reasons ) and the management people are not doing enough inspite of knowing it.
What can i do to atleast control the situation before the big bosses realize its too late to make the people wait now.
Pls reply as this is frustrating and hurting at times to just see people going for interviews giving fake reasons.

it is fait accompli in the current context. In order to arrest the attrition, you have to revisit your company’s pay structure. Regards R.ponraj

Hi...
Hurry and find out the reason why they are leaving...before its too late.
COnduct a stay interview with them so that you can find out if they are enjoying their stay in the company or not, and similarly you can find out the reasons for their being not happy with the organisation, it can be due to compensation structure or there can be other valid reasons also.
Start talking to the new joinees first and then subsequently move to the older ones.
Happy retaining....

Dear Ashlesha.dere
Please instruct your IT people to block the job portals and other websites in company systems. Insist on that Whatever the employees communicating it should only be done through company e mail id and not in any other mail id.
Your IT people has to monitor the mails regularly by which it can be easily traced out.
You can regularly check for the job portals regarding your staff members details, who are in job search.
Please create the employee friendly atmosphere in working environment. Normally Highly motivated employees will not leave the organisation without any valid reason.

Mr. Boss
Do you think blocking the access to INTERNET will solve the problem here in this case.
As mentioned by Archana first find out the reason for the attrition in company, then take appropriate action.

Hi Bhaskar,
As mentioned by you surely blocking the portal sites is helpful, but it is a very sort term strategy, as people will look for jobs from home or cyber cafe'. Blocking the internet will further create a dissatisfaction amongst employees.
Think about it how many of us have applied for job from office, so the long term solution in dealing with attrition is to find out the reasons first, and then take one step each to remove those problem areas from the organisation.
Thanks Contactsmith for your remarks...

Please refer my comments. In last para I have clearly mentioned
Please create the employee friendly atmosphere in working environment. Normally Highly motivated employees will not leave the organisation without any valid reason.
I don't think to give more interpretation in the subject as I feel that the above words are clearly spelling the action required to be taken to reduce the employee attrition.

Hi Aslesha,
We also are facing the same problem but we being in HR should also try to understand the reason for this from employees view point. Why they want to leave company, why they are not happy. There could be variety of reasons viz. dissatisfaction with the policy, unfriendly working environment, salary dissatisfaction etc. Try to find out the reason and then work out on it accordingly.
Blocking job site I dont think will serve the purpose entirely.

I do understand that few people really have genuine reasons to quit. My look out right now is how i can manage to explain my view point to the management from employees' side. They look up to me to place their difficulties in front of the management.
Definitely, blocking sites is certainly what i will not even recommend to them as this is no temporary solution also.
M trying to list all the factors that can be contributing to this attrition. All cannot be done positively, but atleast i can make some things understandable to my bosses. Till a solution is drawn , what could be done ??

Please try to conduct some annual day function of your company or some Financial year closing function whatever it may be, organise it properly, and instruct all the employees to attend the function with family.
The interaction with family will have highly effective and you can get some good result. Here you need not tell anything to anyone, everything will be understood by the top bosses.
