Hi I want to know what is the prescribed working hours for women according to law & under which section.Does it applies to private sector also. Thanks Pooja

There is no specific working hours prescribed by SC for Women employees. As far as night shift’s are concerned they are asked to fill/ compile a 'voluntary declaration of night shift'.

According to the Factory Act , Working hours for women is also same as working hours for men but the time period during which the women workers are allowed : 6 A.M. to 7 P.M. but in special condtions they can be exempted..... for this the factory has to take prior permission from appropriate government but in this case also no female worker is allowed to do work during 10.00 P.M. to 5.00 A.M.
