It is really unfortunate news. These kind of situation mostly happened in the manufacturing company where workers are not educated enough.
As far as news broken, the reason behind was that just a small argue between a supervisor and employees was lead to violence between them. Isn't it shocking that 50 seniors were injured in that. How those workers dare to do this. Now, the time comes to reform the legislation.
After this kind of situation, there must be needed some legislation which protect all workers(Top & bottom) and equality of rules must be there.

Very shameful incident in Maruti-Manesar. Whatever was the reason for this incident but our Government should think over it. It will be better to constitute an INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS COMMITTEE in each industry under the supervisions of Government.

Dear All,

Very sad to hear about it… but why…. I don’t understand….

Manesar: Maruti Suzuki's plant at Manesar remained closed on Thursday after a huge riot in which a senior HR executive was killed by workers. About 85 people, including 9 policemen, are reportedly injured. The company says two of their employees are in serious condition.

Here are the top developments in this story:

1. A burnt body was discovered in the conference room of the plant this morning. The company has identified the victim as Human Resources Manager Awanish Kumar Dev, who burned to death during the riot.

2. A statement from the company said Mr Dev had been "instrumental in the company taking far-reaching steps to enhance the well-being and working conditions of workers at the Manesar Plant."

3. The clashes began on Wednesday afternoon after disciplinary action was taken by a supervisor against a worker. Company officials say workers began to attack senior management during discussions that followed, while the workers' union said its representatives were attacked first.

4. 91 people, mostly workers, have been arrested by the Gurgaon police and could face charges that include arson and attempt to murder.

5. The government of Haryana has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the riot. It combed through CCTV footage and interviewed witnesses to identify other people involved in the attack.

6. Armed with iron rods and door beams of cars, the mob spread out in groups in the factory area and targeted supervisors, managers and executives... rendering many of their victims bleeding and unconscious," Maruti said in a statement, adding, "They also ransacked offices, broke glass panes ...finally, they set the offices on fire."

7. The president of the workers' union, Ram Meher, accused the company of "anti-worker and anti-union activities" in a statement on Thursday. "The gates were closed by the security on behest of the management and the bouncers brutally attacked the workers with sharp weapons and arms," Ram Meher said in the statement.

8. Ei Mochizuki, a Tokyo-based spokesman for Suzuki Motor Corp, which controls Maruti Suzuki, said two Japanese employees had been hospitalised after the unrest.

9. Late last year, Maruti brokered a deal with workers that ended weeks of strikes and protests which cut into its sales and market share.

10. The share price of the company fell by 9% and closed on 8.7 % lower on Thursday - its biggest drop in almost two years.

If u have more information baout it plz let me know.

Dear All
The HR executives should have very good command over his top management, labours and the local administration. HR executives should keep on interacting with head of the police adminstration, so that their services can be availed as per our need. Though the Maruti management has good liasing with local administration, but how it happened, it is shocking. I feel it happend due to negligence at management part, who could not imagine the event in advance.

RIP, Avinash! Our condolences to the bereaved family.
Human Resources (HR) can be Hostile Relationship or Harmonious Relationship. The line between these is very thin. Mind Management - NOT taught in any B-schools - is poor today and which results in these sorry incidents.
With over then 30-years in this field - I do not possess and degree related to HR - I can say with pride that I always balanced the aspirations of the employees and the Management's authority and there was no problems at all. Therefore, I urge all the new HR professionals to study and practice Mind Management through another's / own experiences.

This inhuman approach is something should be curbed with utmost intensity in decision by the governing authoriy. Unions are meant for well being and wefare of workers but some of them are giving it crminal shape, playing with life of the people who are custodian of their welfare.
Suzuki should go for shut down of this plant for a longer period, till the workers surrender and tender affidavit to get disassociated with the crminal union body. Unlress given lesson by example learning will not be there.

It was shocking and so bad especially the way HR is looked from the workers side...
it will be a good trend if all the HR educate the employees of their powers and what they do to all so that we are not over powered by workers in the times of turmoil
i have not read the HR ministry at least reacting to the incident
lets come together and stop all the CHALTHAHAI attitude of all and try to protect and be for HRs
MAy his soul REST IN PEACE and all Prayers to the family
