Dear All
Reporting is very important in day today work.
1. Subordinate should report to his boss about the assigned work on day today basis.
2. If he/she completed his/her assignments, they should to report to their boss, then only they could leave.
3. If it is done regularly, there is no need to inform while leaving.
Reporting solves lot many issues in office. Whether we complete the task, or not, it should be known by the boss on day today basis.
So we should see this as "Reporting". Not as informing.

Hi,
I think if their is no harm in anything why to avoid doing it. If you have done your task completely and are leaving you can inform your boss.
Remeber sometimes their is an urgency when the boss might need you. When you are informing him to leave he might ask you for 10 min. It would be just the matter of 10 min but you might come in notice of your boss. why want to leave an opportunity.
We do this at our home also. we inform before leaving. It is a good practice.
