Hi,
What's wrong with Kerala? Isn't it a place in India? Be specific in your reply as to why one should not choose Kerala to work.
Why should a mature adult inform her parents about the work situation? What can the parents do?

Hi. I know how hard it is undergoing that certain situation, which in the first place, you have accepted when you joined that company. Living with 'housemates" whom you go to the same office, is really diffcult... No matter how close you are together and, you consider them as your friends already or better yet close friends, still, critical issues would come up anytime... From simple use of the house facilities to the office or work grievances you discussed up front...

Be careful to the people whom you talk to about this sensitive issue, either choose them wisely to confide or face the music yourself.

Be watchful. I assumed that you are "really affected" on this situation, but keep your cool... Always watch your back, if you don't know who are you dealing with.

Be confident. Deal with the situation without showing them how "pissed off" you are. Be a street smart.

Lastly, if the situation is really full blown, which I hope not, either take the challenge or you leave... But once you leave the company, always leave with your intact dignity and gained respect.

I wish you a peaceful mind. - lissa

The best thing in lyf is to learn from our experiance..And take evn worst incidents in our lives with positiv spirits..Do the same Barkha...

Learn from these xperiances..Be friendly, trust all and at the same time tkcr that trust & friendship is never taken over in such a way that it becomes hazardious lateron...

Talk to these people as said by Prashant in the beginning orelse forget it..Do not react.

I understand sometimes not reacting is difficult specially when som1 irritates you..In that situation play smart wherin it wont affect you but in a proper & right way..

I understan different city, different people..Specially a north indian coming to a different state all together, lots of things happens..Just take all your bad xperiances in asporting spirit & Njoy Lyf...Learn how you can be happy at work as well as at your home..

Love all, be friendly, trust evryone, help evryone..But alwz learn to maintain some distance..It helps in maintaing healthy relation standards in both personal as well as professional lyf..

Wish you lots of Good-Will & Luvly Future...

Cheers

Difficult to address such syndroms.........

But its an issue of managing cultural issue that makes lot of difference in accpting certain behaviours. Something acceptable to you may not be acceptable to others. I can only advise to open your eyes and liberate your mind whenever you are vanturing in new society and people arround you.

We did face such problems while we migrate to another society and culture, I migrated to australia and initially I face many problems because our attitude is different from natives. The recent spat of attack on Indians are one among such misunderstanding among Indians where as this is Australian way one has to be tough and strong to take on these australians instead of blaming racist. Australians were the same as they appear today more aggresive and intimidating to immigrants same what we expereince to migrants asinas in Canada the only difference in canada is this their third generation who expereince immigrants and migrants workforce wherereas Australians first generation who see these migration therefore there will be backclashes.

I see analogy in yoru problem with recent Spat of attack by Australians on migrant Indians its law of nature.

Follow following steps.
1.You need to bring this to the attention of your boss continuously. Your boss can then speak with his department manager.Don't take this on yourself, this is a job for HR management. That's why they get paid more.
2.Team up with your other north Indian colleague out there.Remember the golden stay in team and discuss ur problem.Good or bad guy u have to be careful in each step. And u can also handle this situation diplomatically by informimg those guys for e.g.that u are engaged in home town.
3.If the problem persist and Ur carrier is affected choose transfer OR search job in another location like banglore , mumbai or pune since employment opportunity in high and promising in these cities.

You dont need to give much attention to these people. Just because of these kind of people, if you are not concentrating on your work, it will finally affect your performance. Sometimes you can join with them for a Tea/Lunch and give them a feeling that, you are not bothered about what they are doing, but good to them. (solution) :) I hope this will work. all the best.
