I think you should first analyse the root cause of these sort of dominations. Then you can work out the certain things to resolve these problems.
Secondly I can suggest you that person always gets dominated by other if he/she shows restless expressions on face. Try to avoid that.
Another thing is when you are new in any organisation, then you do not required to over estimate others problems & under estimate our own self.
Try to talk or discuss less ( I do not mean to say entertain) with the person to whom you are not aware of clearly aboout his attitude.
Also we shall always work out on weaknesses than the strenghts.

Dear Chandana
I can understand your position being a female member.
Keep just two things in mind
1.Don't let the people or situations rule you rather you should rule the things in a precise way.
2.Make the males counterpart understand their right position in your official circle and you yourself should also define it. Never give importance to one or the other .Try to have a co-operative team environmentrather than dominating and ruled by individual aspect.
3. Never Cry for help Take a stand work ,systematically analyze things and and create your own position.
4. Do as per your legitimate power and authority take guidelines from superiors and experts of your field and never get confused by others' opinion.
Females can be more successful in any field if they understand the scenario and work accordingly

Dear Chandana
You r newly recruited and top of it, u r a female. Most of the new recruits face this challenge. Challenge of being acceptable. It is not surprising. The only solution to ur problem is to have the grit to withstand the challenge. Remember knowledge is power. Try to know as much about the organization and the job as you can. Learn the procedures of the organization. If any one tries to be funny (I hope u understand what I mean) since u r a female, do not fear, because there r enough protections built now for a female employee. Act as per your personality. With passage of time (and your determination to hold on) u will get over the problem of acceptance.

Dear Chandana,

I totaly agree with the views of M/s. Jyoti, she has given a matured opinion. The problem you are facing is faced by every new comer in this field, to comeout of this problem you have to be strong and understand what is your ultimate aim / goal and that should be to become a successful HR Professional. I will give you a simple example and get answer from that. See for eg. you are going to be a 25 storie building which is to be constructed and there are other similar bldg of some 3, 4, 5 or 6 storie bldg which is already constructed (i.e your staff) So initially you have to start from the begning i.e putting your foundation correctly and this is the time you have to work more, struggle a lot, there may be ups and downs, but keep patience, there may be end number of problems but you should face it. Once your foundation is finished then you have to grow upwards and your bldg should equal your staff, means you should equal them with your knowledge, experience etc., and once you are confident then go further and thereon............. and you will reach upto 25th storie. Then when you see from top, the other bldg structures around you will look very small and tiny. That time they cannot reach or compete with you anymore because you have grown beyond their reach. That time you just think that once you were small in front of them. You have taken there support to reach upto this height. Without support no bldg is built and once it is built it dont need any support. So upto the stage where you are completly built you have to be patient and learn from your staff and colleges, mingle with them and be friendly with them, some time they may frustrate you but keep patience and understand them. Each individual has some good qualities, findout that and praise them, they will start understanding you and will support you. I have faced similar problems in my profession and i have adopted this policy and have achieved my goals. Its totally my opinion and it may differ from my senior and junior colleges.

Dear Friends,Every one suggestions are good, JYOTHI has given good answer. So it is advisiable that now a days the HR persons job is more vital. They should always co-ordinate with each department, don't hesitate, if any problem faces beyond limits pass it to the BOSS. Beacuse boss is the ultimate responsible person to support you. First, note down the week points of each and every one. If time comes put it in the notice of the boss. The new commers always facing the same situation but one of the coleque may help and give support please search among your staff. Don't be panic. Every days situation is a good step and lesson for climbing the ladder. Then only from all directions you may strong in future.Good luck !!!PBS KUMAR

Hi Chandan,
Person can be dominated only if he/she lets the other person to do so.
Without your permission no one can bother you...and above all you are HR...you are the one who show directions to members and the organisation.
Be very sweet listen to what they want to say, this gives them the feeling that they are herad and do what ever you think is the best suit...this will solve both the problems.

Swinal :)

Dear Chandana
Whichever organization you work for, please bear only one thing in mind, that you do not work for the people, but for the organization. Do those things which you feel is right for the organization. Do not bother what everybody is doing to you, becoz that will ultimately lead to your own disaster. Take every situation as a lesson, as a challenge and overcome those critical situations. Afterall these are things which normally happens everywhere.
