Dear Friends, I would like to know that what is the maximum number of days where a punitive suspension (as an award of punishment for misconduct) can be made under Indian law or wrt Metal Mining Industry.

To brief, a principal employer insisting on 30 days of suspension (without pay) for a contractual staff because of failed drug test report i.e. found using some drugs. The standing order does not explicitly mention punishment but merely - more than 04 days suspension, but no limits. Also, under draft model standing orders released in Dec 2020, no mention of the maximum limit of suspension days.

There cannot be infinite days or will & wish but stipulated rule somewhere. Although the Industrial order mentioned it of 10 days. It is confusing. If some one can provide an insight on this.
