In COVID 19, my company has asked me to leave with a month's notice time. I resign in March -30 and 31st April was my last working day. But my company as deducted by 75% salary during that time without any prior information. They have not shared any mail or verbal communication with me. Please suggest is it allowed the company to deduct the salary without any information. Can I take any legal action against that on the company?

Hello Ea-ea,
Though some %age of reduction in salary is widely seen all over the country, deduction without prior intimation is unethical & unacceptable. On top of it the coercion to resign. Unjustifiable. Even the Supreme court advised employers & employees to negotiate the terms during the lock down periods. The legal option, though is one among many but certainly not a workable solution going by the uncertainties prevailing even among the courts and govts. I understand & share the agony of the difficulties you are pushed into resulting, truncated compensation & loss of job, twin assault. But quick remedies are far-fetched. Why don't you meet & get them on to the negotiating table & try to gain whatever could be possible as an immediate relief.
