I am part of the sales team of an IT company from past 1 year, due to recent Covid situations, they have sent me a mail that my position has been kept on hold and post the situation gets normal, they will convey my date of joining my work.
Can I resign in this situation if I have another offer in hand? Please suggest. If yes, will there be any negative repurcusions for me from point of relieving letter as my notice period is 90 days and someone suggested that if I resign in this situation, I am not liable to serve notice.
Please share your inputs from all perspectives including legal.
Thanks.

Position kept on hold -does it mean they are not paying you?
They are keeping you in an uncertain position.
You look around for another job and when you land one, speak to your company tactfully and get clean exit.
Legalities take time to be sorted out and court battles etc are time and money consuming.Try for a negotiated and friendly exit.
