Hi Frnd,
As per my knowledge,
Student /education Counselor job doesn't come under HR all-though objective of the job relates to HR i:e "counselling" . when we talk about Counselor job is a good job and it come under sales and marketing as said it is for training institute ,This job will be a target oriented so first find out that .
If your int to pursue HR career then start something with recruitment because you will find so many opportunities for a recruiter position
Good luck

Thanks a lot Spriya for answering to my query.I had a further discussion with the employer regarding the job description and they too said that the job will be target based and it is basically a marketing profile. And I am a bit apprehensive about working in any target oriented profile. Is recruitment also about achieving target? Are not there any jobs of recruitment profile which are not target based?

Recruitment wont be a target based job but sometimes it depends on the company you are choosing. You are from technical backgroung r8? then go for IT Recruitment it will be easy for you. Regards priya

Thanks for replying Spriya.Yes,I have got a technical background. But all the openings here in Kolkata are strictly target based, even the openings for IT recruiter positions.
