Hi,
I recently joined an IT company as an HR Trainee Executive.I was delighted to know that I was put into the generalist profile. But due to improper communication and certain issues I am placed into a profile which I didnt expect and I have no knowledge about. I communicated the same to the seniors but in no vain. I dont want to continue it. How can I politely deny that the profile I am into and the skill set and issues I have is a total mismatch. I really need help, cause I don't want to offend anyone and be productive in the work I do.
Please suggest me how can I do that....

Dear lakshmi,
it is better to discuss clearly with senior boss for mismatch job profile,u can justify u r point by saying that u r output will be zero in this profile, it will not be good 4 all of us, instead of this u can ask 4 some training for u r desirable Field.

First of all, didn't you check the job description before applying as in companies HR dept divided in to parts, based on the HR function but they have the designation of HR trainee or HR executive and here it looks that you were thinking to some specific HR function but you are moved to some other HR functions.
I would like to tell you that being an HR, person should have knowledge of various HR functions so if this is the situation as I explained, you should try to learns and understand or expertise in particular HR function in which you placed or you can discuss regarding the same with the manager HR possibly they shift you to your desired HR function role.

Lakshmi_sai Manozna,
You should have strong points and reasons for not accepting any role. If you are not happy with any specific profile and do not want to do work with in it then write down some strong points on WHY ARE NOT YOU THE BEST PERSON FOR THIS PROFILE and convince your boss according to it.

Hi Lakshmi,
you are getting reply but from my side i guess for all of us it will be easy to give you suitable advice if you mention here an idea about your current profile in which they switched you. I am not m perfect in HR knowledge and profile description but as you are very new and joined with your first job profile might be you misunderstanding the profile or it can be also possible that later on this profile will set you back on HR track somehow. so please mention your current profile and Key roles you are playing. so that you will get a needful reply for your carrier growth. will wait for your revert as soon possible.

As Mr Khanna said, what is the profile they have put you into right now? You said, 'I am placed into a profile which I didnt expect and I have no knowledge about'
If this profile is related to HR (and not something radically different) then view this as a learning opportunity and be vocal to the management/ur boss that you want a specific profile. If anything comes up, I'm sure they will consider you. I know it sounds preachy but there isn't another option.
On a more general note, I have seen so many people asking similar queries on this forum, I wonder what do they expect out of this. These are just some of the hurdles that come in anyone's way. There is no magic wand that the members at this forum can wave and the problems will go away. Ofcourse, more complicated and unique problems can be brainstormed on; but it amazes me to see so many people posting similar problems.

You have mentioned that due to improper communication and certain issues you are shifted. Where there is improper communication and what are the issues.if you suit the earlier prfile then take it up with the seniors and tell them that your contributions to the earlier profile will be more and request them to retain in the earlier profile. But mind it the Management has got the right to transfer and fix any profile as per their opinion which cannot be fought. However i suggest to take it up with them and get a winning hand to retain in the earliesr portfolio
