Hello,

The concept or the thought supporting the idea to "support employee's children's education from beginning." needs further elaboration by way answers to folowing questions primarily!

1) Where is your industry located?

2) Are you in manufacturing or service industry?

3) Is your focus just the employee's children or children in the community you operate in?

4) Your budget allocation will set the final parameter anyway!

The answers will help you clearly set perspectives of this programme. If you link this activity to ERC (Employee Related Costs) you are talking one budget that involves like the organization's capacity to bear this additional burden, whether the employees will want to include this scheme in collective bargaining sphere and you will have define the support you have in mind-all children, any school/college/institutes of higher learning, professional courses and whether all employee's children (irrespective of their performance) will be the beneficiaries etc.

Even you are considering this a CSR project, these questions will have to be considered, perhaps more critically.

I am writing all this as first assistance but I do really think, like Mr. Simhan has said, you should provide more details of what is in your mind on this subject. Organization of your thoughts will only help put in place a better structured proposal for the organization to consider! But his mail should at least set you thinking a little more at depth.

Need more assistance/clarification, feel free to take a contact!

Cheers!

Thanks simhan and Samvedan! Actually we are in service industry, A car dealership in Nasik , Maharashtra ,around 150 employees, out of which around 50 are with us for more than 5 years, in the age group when their kids are going to start their schooling. we want to reimburse their school fees and take care of their complete education till they are with us. These employees are earning from Rs.5000 to 15000 per month.

Hello,
Thanks for the response.
Keeping aside the issue of funds allocation by the company for this purpose, one must remember that such a scheme has to be thought of and conceived for perpetual application and there sinothing wrong about such an approach.
Subject to this observation, I would suggest that you put together your thoughts on the subject based on my earlier response and present it to us (if you like as Private Message) and we might be able to add value in terms of structure, substance and parameters.
I am making tis offer but you have to make a choice!

Hello smita,
We are a manufacturing company, we have regular & contract staff in our company we provide education fee for academic year to all the contract employees based on the salary. For ex:A contract employee below 10k salary we pay full amount of the fees to their kids and above 10k we pay 50% cent of the kids fee depends upon their school fees.
I hope this is helpful to u
Thanks & Regards

Dear Smitha,
You have to ensure equity in whatever policies you frame. For example, taking Murali's scheme, I would ask is it equitable that a person who sends his children to a Private School gets more money than one that can't send his/her children to a private school for some other reason? Similarly, if a worker limits his/her family size to TWO and another keeps producing more and does not believe in family planning, is it equitable to keep paying for all the children?
I know that these policies are for retaining good and loyal workers.
Have a nice day.

Simhan,
may be person who cant send his children to a private for other reason, the person might start sending his children to private school for at least use this benefit. in that case it is good for the person and children and we had also restricted it two children.

Hi Friends, I wish to know, 1. Is the scholarship received by an employee’s child, is taxable for the employee? 2. If not, is there any upper limit for receiving such scholarship?
