You have to give more information like the size of the firm, the time available to you in the company, what access willl the company give, what problems, if any, the company is facing or would like you to solve, etc. Otherwise, it will be like "stabbing in the dark". Is there a topic that you feel passionate about that will be of interest to the company?

hello simhan....
it's a newly established software company and there's no HR streamlining now. you can say HR functioning in the process. the training period is of 1 month and till now I have been told by my boss to work upon the employee ACR and attendance regulations and about the welcoming the new employees etc.since i have no one to guide upon what exact area I should choose for my project report. it's all foggy for me. so please help or guide.

You can done project on Employee Satisfaction Survey & Organisation Climate Survey of company.
This give you strength & weak point of company and you can know what factors motivates employee?, what are their difficulty in organisation and all minor details of employee and hopefully you can solve the some problem of employee.

I've read about the TPS(toyota production system) and I found some points there which are:
Companies that pursue and emulate TPS best practices have seen much success as a result of this highly effective manufacturing philosophy. Some of the benefits include:
Identify and enhance customer perceived value
Decrease waste and cost in the manufacturing process
Improve product quality and on-time delivery
Develop a competitive world class manufacturing operation
now it is clear that how TPS is beneficial but still i have some queries that how I can conduct my project on it. what material is to be collected and to be studied to compile my project report. in short I know the topic and it's benefits but don't know the way to do it.

You may demand a software from software engineer regarding to enter the compleat data all the employees of the comapny from receiving hsi/her bio data to termination or relieving the job, like his/her personal detail, qualification, experince, willingness to work in the field, salary expected, his/her strenghts/ weeknesses, probation period starting date, ending date. his / her absentism, creterioa of bonus/gratuity. leave policies. pf/sesi policies. Allowances polices, increment creterios, policies for advance/ loan facility to office staff, code of conducts, do and don't by an employee, individual records of an employee in term of leaves/attendence/advance/loan/salary
