Hello senoirs,
Your suggestions are really required. Please reply.
My questions are:
1. Is it necessary to survive in the corporate world, you need to do buttering to your seniors???
2. Why managers are biased even though they know that to whom they are favouring/supporting is not right?
3. how many of you do agree on the following statement:
"employee don't leave the company, they leave their managers"

From India, Mumbai
Dear mamta These questions are more of rhetorical devices that needs no answer or has obvious answers. It is like asking, "How many of you think that honesty is NOT a good policy ?" Warm regards.

Dear Mamta,

It seems you are fed up with the bad behavior of the management of your organization. Anyway, the answers to your questions are as follows:

1) As of survival in career of a person, survival in the corporate world is quite necessary. Most of the bosses do prefer buttering, but buttering always does not pay, as survival of corporate entity is based on performance. So, for your survival in corporate world, you need to be more and more competent and talnted than others (say than flatterers or maskabaz people). But, if the management is of the type that prefers butterers, must switch to another corporate entity, which may respect your competence and talent.

2) Managers become biased mostly due to (a) pressures from above; (b) wrong feed and back biting by the flaterers; (c) irritation on account of their own domestic problems; (d) their own incompetencies being unable to catch along the performance of their subrdinates; and (e) their instinct and preference to dictate terms, being a boss.

3) I agree, you are 100% right in saying, "employee don't leave the company, they leave their managers", as most of the managers are incompetent leaders. They try to manage work, dictate terms, or create problems, without understanding the problems and needs of the employees, but don't try to motivate employees and to earn their dedication and loyalty. When the managers become the sources of problem for the employees, rather than becoming their mentors, guide, and advisers, the employees leave their managers by leaving the company.

Hi,

It is obvious that you may put lot efforts to do the best work which is appreciable to all, but because of some attitude of managers, your seniors or management you will always found that our boss, management upgrade others who are doing nothing.
So first do not upset it happen everywhere, and take it in the way that you are upgrading yourself and making more competent, which is required in the corporate world. My answer are as :

1. You need to survive yourself in the corporate world by adding and upgrading your knowledge, skill, strength to grow and make yourself more competent, not buttering to your managers. Because people who are honest they just concentrating on their work to do the best o best.

2. Managers are biased many times
a. They do not want to accept his subordinate's performance, because they may have fear in their mind of their position, so they tries to give preference to those people who are not able. In that case managers has no fear to their position.
b. May be they have sympathy, likeliness, soft corner towards those people who are not able.
c. people who are buttering to these managers.
d. people who are not apposing to these managers/superiors.
3. The sentence "employee don't leave the company, they leave their managers" is 100% true.
Your superior must be knowledgeable, competent, listening, directive. He must guide you, encourage you, motivate you, take care of efforts taken.
If we feel uncomfortable with those managers we leave the Organization that means we leave managers and try to stay away from this kind of politics.

Dear Mamta,
Its true that employee never leave the company they leave their boss but on the other hand it is also true that " Love your job and not your company " and as far as i know have known corporate if you love your job and is doing it with dedication you don't need any butter dear. It has been told and know that people with positive attitude is hired then people having great fancy degrees.

1.SELF above organisation -- employee in whatever level sees to it that he/she must keep growing; so do anything to attain that.( loyalty, sincerity etc etc are only for preaching)
2.Sheer lack of leadership qualities -- please be clear they know what is leadership; they dont want to practise it.
3)Lack of self worth -- they see their value based on position & perks; to retain that they do anything.

Dear Sir,
Greetings...........
You are 100% right in every statement.
Even i am facing the same problem in my company. I am working with Ratchet Laboratories Ltd. from last one and half year. since my joining, my managing director has full faith in me and he still have the same. But due to some reasons, we have appointed a GM - HR /Admin for our company. Since his joining, he used to creating problems, negative environment and grouping in our own department.
I really surprised that how an HR Person can behave like this. he has nothing to do with the employee problems and needs. he just want to make his numbers in front of the management.
Every person is against his behavior.
Please suggest me what to do.

"employee don't leave the company, they leave their managers"

This quote reminds me an irritating title of some TV Serial “Kyoki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi”. Remember that some day they have survived with some manager and if am I right, you will be a “Manager” some day (I am sorry if you feel you are not today).

Coming to first question, Ask Your Self, …….. ARE YOU DESPENSEBLE?

Reply is if “YES”…….Then you are dispensed.

Addressing the second one… Does the stakeholders are still prospering?

If yes, then check your axiom.
If no, then don’t worry, your managers had started their countdown.

Dear Manvinder,

It usually happens, when the positional bosses are not of some worth and are not able to justify their performance. In that case they normally create problems and adopt the formula of divide and rule also, rather than doing some constructive work. To justify themselves they just pretend and show the top brass that they are handling a tough & problematic area to win the sympathy and appreciation of their bosses by creating false and artificial problems.

I don't have any objection to post solution to your problem here. But most probably your GM, if he is also the memer of CiteHR, may also know what tactics you would be adopting to tackle your problem. Since you have clearly mentioned the name of your organization, that may not be in your interest to get the solution publically. Better you post me a private message, or through my email [dcgroup1962@gmail.com] to get the solution. You may provide me detail of the problem to get specific solution.
