Hi Folks

Everything starts with the Vision Shahid. Only if teh Management is clear what they want, will the people down the line be sure of what they must do to be in line with the Company's vision - an dhow to align their individual roles with the vision.
Thanks.

Thanks Asha
For your quick response, but this the problem for me, we are big company but our management has no concern with vision, mission, or objective because business is going very well and growing day by day.
HR is established 2 years ago but i am realy confused why i should do job anylsis where i don't know what is being expected from employees and how to alighn their responsibilties and accountablities.

I understand your situation Shahid. Did you try discussing with the management on the vision and purpose?
If they have not shown any interest - what you can do is - prepare a draft and ask them if you can define that as the company's vision, based on which the Job Analysuis and make the work more effective. Just try it - they will look into it and give their suggestions.

I have discussed with them but our organization is not so small that i can put them in a single mirror and let them know the importance of Vision, mission , objectives they have hired a consultant for organization development, but has been floped badly due to not proper understanding of cultural values, norms, and standards of organization.
Dear Asha
i just wanted to know can i conduct job anaylsis just to make employees responsible and accountable for their activities.

Dear munir,
One side you are telling that your organisation is growing exponentially, how it si possible without clear vision, understanding the market/customers?
job analysis or job responsibilities are to be clearly defined in an organisation for achieving the desired output. Don't you have the performance apprisal system in your org? Is there any incentive scheme? How many employees are there? Is it proprietory or share holding company?

Dear Shahid,

The answer is in your statement below. Please see what I have highlighted
You can - may be you can start seeing how other companies in the same industry have profiled the positions. Take notes from there - discuss with the employees, and then discuss with the Management to see if "that is what they expect". Its a challenge - you can still do it. And the best part is - at teh end of the assignment, the management would understand what sghould be the vision & Goals.

we have more then 3000 employees, we do have performance mangment system but we (HR ) are just able to enforce it for services staff, like accounts, admin,IT etc for our manufacturing units our line mangers are more authoritative because they enjoy direct reporting to Directors and they don't like to fill evaluation forms as this is very time consuming thing for them.
2nd as you ask that how we are growing without vision actualy since we are manufacturer and retailer by ourself so we have caputured the market through our well know brands which are being sold like hot cakes.
The issue for me is how to highlight the importance of job anaylsis to line managers and how to make their activites objective based.

Dear Asha
I have seen the same practice in other companies also but they are doing job anaylsis just to show that HR is doing its work, they have made JD'S for each person they have prepared organgorames, but they don't know why we made these jd's.
This is the problem for me why i should do the same what other peoples doing without vision.

Dear Shahid,
Before getting into any tasks- prepare the "Purpose" on why "you" would want to initiate the practise. If you feel its of no worth, then there is no point in implement it. Because "you" must believe in what you do.
If you think that no one else is doing it, so why should I do it - ask yourself: DO you liek to continue with the same concepts - or advance with new concepts that no one may have tried.
Now I can't convince you on that! :-)
