Dear all,
How should be a HR?
1. Very close to all the employees
(always smiling ,all the times ready to give infomation and solving their problems simply like a fecilitator not more then that)
2. Very strict at the employees?
(Very strict if emp comes late even 2 mints also deducting half day salary or half day leave as per their policy. Simply in this the HR believes that only documents, facts & figures and follows it.)
Or
3.Both 1 & 2 it depends on the situation
( Timely changing the behaviour. Whenever it requires he will be strict otherwise he will be as like as Point no:1)
In above said all the ways we can get productivity or we can maintain HR role in a perfect manner.
But my dear seniors which way is more effective and usefull for the organisation as well as career groth of the HR.

Dear,
You should manage it in both way.
You are the key person to implement all the polices and follow up with regular intervals.
Same time keep harmonious relationship with everyone in the organization.
But you should communicate clearly about the systems and procedures must be follwed by each employees.

The answer to your question, must be a basic bottome line for every HR. But it is to be realised and followed than actually defining and having a process.
I feel the 3 ways you mentioned are the ways of getting things done, but when you ask about how should a HR be?
I say that rather than following one particular way of the 3, you should make the employees feel the empowered. Once the empowering character comes into them which should be imbibed if not present, the employee will be more cautious and more responsible about himself.
The role of HR is not only to set rules which are stirct or lenient but to make employees follow them. In all the 3 ways there could be a percentage of employees you cant control. so I feel that the HR has to customize his way depending on the employee.
Just some thoughts to share... comments would be appreciated.

Mr.Naveen i agree with u.
HR has to customize his way depending on the employee is exactly right.
HR has to have the multi behavioural skills.
Anyway thanks to the respondents.
Hope this discussion will continue for further also.

as per my thinking a HR should have positive attitude alwys in any condition....

>if some one is comming late he/she should not react angerly..its shows your frustartion...a HR should have high degree of self-control in any condition.a HR should Develops new responses to situations. How the situation can manage effectively ....suppose empls is comming late u can intercat with particular emp and softly u can pass your massage but id does not mean u you have to react on him/her...i there wil be a specific rule follw your rule and the main responsiblity of any HR is continous improvement of te empls.....showing your frustartion is not the way to improve anyone....it means ur behvinlg ;like a teacher and student ...if student wil do wrong anything a teacher wil punish him ..but in corporate u cant follw ths...u hv to boost ur empls morale...do u kno ...empls are alwys hving a lot of expectation from HR dept....

>>situation can be controll in normal way also....my funda is stay positive alwys whether empls are breaching the code of conduct ...not perfoming .wat ever ..our duty is only continous improvement of emlsssssss .........and do as per the comp rule.....

ihv given sme brief idea abt this....this is what i am thinking abt the HR qualities..........

Hi there,
Its not customization,
every job has 2 faces - 1st is policy driven and 2nd Humanitarian driven.
Every HR should check if the policy is followed in Humanitarian way.
Because HR is also an employee like others, mend ur way, u be right and let others look at u and they would follow you.
Giving leverage at times would make others feel to misuse the leverage or take it for granted, if u are rigid with the policy then certainly u r not a human being...
so its like a coin which does not make sense with only one side... needs two....
and it cannot be customised... since company has its own policies and procedures.... and u r supposed to help others follow it...

Now the days are gone when you can put stick on the employees and they would walk on employers' signals because they have got options with them which can be chosen at any time. What i personally believe that company which takes care of 'Work Life Balance' would only play in long run as we would have to accept that other then employee of any employer we are son, daughter, brother, husband, wife or sister of someone and he/she expects something from us. They want to spend time and their moments with us.

Hi Priya,
I suppose you misunderstood the word customization... I was not talking abt customizing the policies and implementation processes...But i was penning down my point that the way the behaviour the approach the reaction etc... towards the employee should be customized....
Let me know your comments on it........
