Dear Seniors,
I am an HR Officer in ITES sector and one of my HR friends in manufacturing sector planning to switch over IT/ITES sector has few doubts on the role of HR in IT/ITES sector and its future.
I expect a foresighted view from seniors in this regard that if the role of HR in a manufacturing sector will have prominance over the role in IT/ITES sector as RPO may cater for most of the part played by HR in IT/ITES sector and HR is not actively involved in planning & policy making.
Thanks,

Hi Velswiz,
HR's role in any industry is essentially the same. The only differnce will b in the recruitment of the talent pool. Its not like in an ITES orgn you will do only clerical work but when in Manufacturing company u will b designing policies.
Many companies, across industries, are slowly realizing the importance of HR as a Strategic partner than just as a back-end support function. So many companies, irrespective of the industry, are moving towards this trend now.
Having said that, ITES industry as such is facing a slump with stagnated salary growths and attrition rates.
So if ur question is whether ITES industry or the Manufacturing industry as a whole will be in demand, then i would say, the future looks better for manufacturing industry. HOwever, like i said, its the complete industry not just for one department in it.
Hope this clarified ur doubt. If not, then please let me know.

Nothing wrong with the future of HR neither in India nor at worldover.
Whats a question before us right now is whats the future of IT in India ratherthan HR future in IT companies.
China has taken massive drive to teach english to the chiness youth specially aiming at software, IT and BPO as major employment potential sector and good revenue generation too. China never competes with India they have their own innovative ideas counter the therat from IT dominant countries to become world leader.
Don't be under wrong impression or mislead by cheap roadside chiness goods being sold in India. This is not true picture and not chiness creation but this is Indian innovation in Chiness backyard for indian consumers by Indian importers who force chiness manufacturers to make cheap goods for India and Africa because predominantly most part of Africa Indians business dominate by the Indians. China also manufacture best quality products for western countries which are not available in Indian market. Because of strick USA trade laws other wesern countries trade practices do not allow products which does not qualify their standards for example Europian Union Trade Laws are very strict and being controlled by penalties for substandard goods. Chiness goods are every where in the develop countries but unlike India or Africa low quality products.
Now they are also targeting IT sector hopefull in next five years they will lead this sector.
Now it's an issue of whats future of IT companies. English teacher have greater job opportunities in china with work visa priority. English teaching jobs are in demand these days in china.
Just for information..
