I hope you're doing well. I am reaching out to seek your guidance regarding an issue one of my friend is encountering with the overlapping dates of exit.
She joined Infosys in July 2019 and after completing the training she had to report to Pune location however due to some unavoidable family issues, She had to abscond from Infosys, She had informed this to her then reporting manager in August 2019(unfortunately it was a text message which she don't have any proof)
After that, she joined another TCS on 9th Sep 2019, however in her Infosys reliving letter, the date of exit is showing as 11th sep 2019 which is creating a 2 days overlap issue.
Now, She left TCS and wants to join another company but in the background checks of new company this overlapping issue surfaced and new company is saying to get it rectified but Infosys is saying as per the abscond process the date which they mentioned is correct and cannot be changed, now she is left with no job.
Could you kindly provide suggestions or recommendations on the best course of action to address this issue? Your expertise and advice would be very helpful.
Looking forward to your feedback.
Thank you in advance for your time and efforts.

Hello,
Possible Solutions:
1. Request TCS to Adjust the Joining Date (Easier Route)
• Since the overlap is only 2 days, your friend can try requesting TCS to update the official joining date to 12th Sep 2019 (if they are flexible).
• Some companies allow minor adjustments for administrative reasons.
• She should check with TCS HR if this is possible.
2. Get a No-Dual-Employment Declaration from Infosys
• If Infosys refuses to change the date, she can request a formal statement/email confirming that although the system exit date was 11th Sep, she was not actively working after August 2019.
• This document may help convince the new employer that no actual dual employment occurred.
3. Explain the Situation to the New Employer
• Some companies understand system-driven exit processes (especially for absconding cases).
• She can draft a formal explanation letter mentioning:
o She had left Infosys in August 2019 (can provide any supporting emails/WhatsApp chat backups, if available).
o Infosys marked the exit later due to their absconding policy.
o She never worked in both companies simultaneously.
4. Seek Support from an Ex-Company(Infosys) HR Contact
• If she knows any HR personnel from Infosys, they might help escalate the request internally.
• A softer approach (instead of formal escalation) may help.
5. Legal Consultation (Last Resort)
• If the new company is rigid and the matter becomes serious, she may seek legal advice on how to handle employment record discrepancies.
• Some professionals help in drafting proper justifications for background checks.
