hii
my prof always told me....2 reasons to strt with consultany
1 - its called the stepping stone.... its here wer u get the fundas clear and groomed for recruitment.
also....this is where u learn..and once u grow..u can relate to ur juniors..and work better.Correct me if im wrong.
2 - Industry wants an MBA specialisation...if u got one...then im sure ul get placed thru college...aptly...
if not..then rare chances of u finding a position in a good Company
if u do, it might be on "Contract basis"..which someone recently told ...the the stamp of being on contract .. follows u ...
correct me if im wrong..and guide further.

I think you should join an industry to start your career so as to understand what is an industry in its real world and what are its needs. Spending few years during your initial career will give you better edge if you plan to become a consultant later. Even for managing your own consultancy organization, if you envisage to build it with people around you rather than as a single consultant, then you need few years of organizational experience.
This is my view.

Hi,
I always feel that you should start your career as a consultant. This is the place where u get more exposure towards technology if you wish to become a Recruiter. Not only that If you work for a placement consultancy you get used to working under high preasures.Today if you need to work for a IT co' as a recruiter, its not easy thing to do.Moreover if talk abt the salary in a Placement consultancy it is definetly going to be a decent package and you get incentives if you meet ur targets on time.
I suggest you to get into a placement consultancy and then slowly move on to the corporate world.
All the best!!
Cheers

Dear Friends
I believe that one who serves the industry only can perceive the world better than a person with clarity on only concepts. We in our Management studies0, go through various aspects of HR strategies and practices which in practical at times proves futile. Only logical approach helps in tackling certain critical situations where exposure to practice becomes mandatory requirement. Just becoming a Consultant without industrial background, one can never think of giving a better solution to a work related problem unless he/she encouters such a situation in a work place. Hence, I strongly recommend anybody to serve an industry for atleast few years which exposes one to many situations and instills confidence to face the challenges in the field of consultancy. This helps in acceptability of the individual also. Can share ur views on

Consultancy and RPO has been maturing in india and has potential as still growing industry though full of competition. In consultancy environment your interaction more with an external employee i.e recruitee while in company all part of same job beside profile. So work and job experience should differ at both places. yet pros and cons can write only grown up and well experienced person on both role.

Hi all,
The decision whether to work with a consultancy or a corporate also depends on the Individuals long term goals and the level of exposure he desires to have in various gamunts of HR.
I a consultancy the exposure is only limited to Recruitments where in a corporate even if u start with recruitments there is always a scope to venture into other areas of HR
If one want to have a career only in recruitments and later on start ones own consultancy even if he is from IIM's , XLRI or TISS he would prefer to work in leading consultancy.
The incentives a person can earn from a good consultancy also is tempting considering the salaries in corporate HR at entry & mid level is not that great.
