Respected Seniors,

I am working with my company from last 2 and a half years. Me and the manager of my company are going around from past few years. I am an ambitious girl. I want to make my career in HR. But my parents in law would not allow me to do job. However, my partner is saying that we will convince my parents in law after few months (5/6/7 months) from marriage... As per my company, we can take 30 annual leaves... I don't want to spoil my career because of marriage and I want to get married as well with my partner. I do not want to leave my current company. My wish is to work with this company for a long time because I am very happy with my office.

Am I entitled to take 6 months break from my company??? After that any how we will convince my parents in law... i will try to convince them within 3 to 4 months...

Should I ask this to my immediate manager (HR Head)???

Please suggest me seniors... I am in BIG TROUBLE...!!!

What should I do...??? Both (Career and love) of them are the essential part of my life...

Dear Sana,

You have more than one option to go for

1) You can discuss with your in laws in the presence of your partner and try to convince them before marriage.
2) Take a leave for 30 days after marriage and try convincing them. If this doesn’t work then
3) Take a break for 6 months convince them with the help of your partner and
join the company.
4) Else have an open option for any of the companies to resume the job.

What ever the way you take, Talk openly with your partner and come towards
a conscience. You both would be the right people to make the decision on the approach.

Hi Arvind and Badlooser,
Im not too much of an HR person ad rarely venture out to give opinions in this forum.Some how cudnt stop myself this time.
There is no denying the fact that yes, this is Sana's personal problem and that she wud be the best judge as far as her personal life is concerned. Perhaps what she is truely trying to find in this forum is what are her options ,shud she decide to take a break for the above mentioned span of time.She probably wants to understand how seriously this break wud damage her options of resuming work in same org.Perhaps the seniors might want to help here.
In my opinion, the best way wud be to spk to ur Hr and discuss yr position.And if post 6 months or whatever, whn u plan to resume, and there is a vacancy then depending on yr past performance and also company policies(as some org dont allow spouses in same org) they might be willing to recruit u back in the system.
Seniors pls advise and do correct me if Iam wrong.

Sana its ur personal problem u r going with ur manager means u gonna marry ur manager, n then leave problems its ur personal,, yaar , pls dont post such personal problems here,, its matter between ur manager and u, and if ur hR finds out both may lose job, if ur co doesnt allow spouse to work ,and for ur inlaws prob consult ur frnds,as my frnd BAD LOOSER told that we are not marriage counsellors.. :icon1:
