Hi Sir,

As we cant use colours in corporates especially in the it companies as it may intruppted the data and may also harmful to computers.

As holi is the festival of colours. and we have to see different colours all around us and liberty should be given to employees to come in different dresses and employee with most colours in his dress should be given a prize.

One thing more in past holi was not a festivsal of clours it was celebrated in the event of wins of truth as holika burned .

According to a legend, Hiranya Kashyap, the demon who ruled over 'Sapta Dweep' believed himself to be more powerful than God. He contemplated killing his youngest son Prahlad, an ardent devotee of lord Vishnu, after he refused to worship him as God. Holika, the demon's sister who had a boon that she will not ever get burnt by fire, agreed to enter the burning pyre with Prahlad in her lap but got burnt herself. Holi thus signifies the triumph of good over evil and is marked by grand festivities all over India and particularly in the Braj area, where it is celebrated with great gaiety and fervour.

Holi becam the festival of colous during the era of lord Krishna.

It is believed that Lord Krishna, an incarnation of lord Vishnu, in human form played Holi with the gopis, (cowherd maids) in the ancient past. Keeping this tradition alive in Braj, Holi celebrations last for more than a week and are marked by people sprinkling coloured water & smearing coloured powder on each other. The playful teasing of the gopis by the gopas (cowherd boys) is enacted by groups of men and women through special holi songs and dances, called 'rasiya'.

We should send e- greetings and should remain away from colours as finally we have to use water and we should develop the habits of saving natural resources.

Hi,

Few suggestions for Holi celebration :

Plan the event 1 or 2 days before Holi day-

1. Best dressed contest (Male & Female) :Multi coloured Indian traditonal dress code for all. Sr. Mgmt should be definetly dressed in Indian tradiation attaire on the day. Keep some good awards for the winners. Let there be a committee to judge the same.

2. Free Special lunch for all - Add 1 or 2 non veg dish. Keep sweet dish as GUJEEIA. You can also ask the food vendors to put some special chaat (Allo-tikki,Gol-gappe, bhel-puri...) counters (depends on your budget)

3. Decoration : Decorate Cafeteria & Reception with lots of colourful ballons, ribbons etc... to give spl Holi effect. Place different colours in a tray (Thali) at the reception. If possible you can decorate the work areas in your orgn as well.

4. Rangoli Competition : You can also hold - most colourful rangoli competition to be made from Holi colours & select the winners accordingly.

5. Music : You can also arrange for peppy music related to Holi in your office to make the moodof all the employees for the festival. If possible you can also think of DJ as well in the evening.

6. Communication : Most important - once u decide about the plan, prepare a beautiful & colourful communication & make sure you communicate well in advance, so that employees can plan accordingly.

Hope this helps...there's lot which can be done...it all depends how creative you are & what is possible looking at your organisation's needs & constraints.

Let me know in case you need any more help.

Thanks & Regrads,

Hena
