Hi Guys, I'm looking for a Pay Slip format for the consultants we have recruited on contract basis and whats the term we can use for the slip?
Payslip or feeslip or anything else? Pl share your views.

Be clear

You are engaged consultants or the contract workmen?

Consultants are the professional service providers who will have the service agreement & they will issue the Invoice for the service that they have rendered & payment processed for the invoice amount. For them Payslips can't be issued

Hi Jeeva,

Appreciate your response on this. here is my reply for your query.

We are recruiting employees as consultant who are junior level people for sales and collection business. Their agreement period will be only 6 months. Based on their performance which will get extended later.

These consultant employees requesting for kind of a payslip so we are working on this. So thought o have other professionals advice too on the same.

Hi,

Primarily the logic of hiring junior level employees as Consultant is not right. A consultant should be a person who is having expertise in one particular field and can offer advise to the employer on a particular subject. Such consultants will work on assignment basis and will not work on full time basis. Not sure whether to avoid statutory part you are hiring on Consultancy contract basis.

Any way considering their short stint of 6 months rather than issuing payslip, issue them a certify letter ( only for Consultant whoever is asking). The content may be as follows

This is to certify that Mr/Ms._________was engaged by us as ____, as a Consultant on Retainership contract basis from ______ to _______

During the above period he / she was paid lump sum consultancy fee of Rs.____/- (Rupees ____Only) per month subject to TDS.

The above will solve your purpose. They can use it as a proof of retainer fee/ association with the Company.

Hi Lakshmi Narayan,

I do agree with you completely that only a senior level people who are expertise in particular filed can be recruited as consultant.

Then what would be designation change for them? any suggestion please. For on-roll employees, we are having designation as Sales /Filed collection executives. So, to differentiate the off role employees, keeping them as sales consultant/ collection consultant. Is it fine? any suggestions from other professionals also please.

Hi,

As they perform similar role of on roll employees, I suggest their designation can be same like Sales/ Field collection Executive but to differentiate you may add in brackets " On short term contract"

But please aware that what so ever name you may term that they should also be eligible for benefits like regular employees. As long as things go smooth you will not face issues.

It is advisable to consider sch persons as Fixed Term Employment/Contract (FTC/FTE) may for 6 months or as you need.
On completion of contract period if require you can appoint then as full time or can end their employment.
Hiring them as consultants & avoiding the statutory benefits might lead to non compliances & later will have to face the consequences.
