Dear All ,

Wanted to know how to calculate leave on Pro-rata basis :

Total Leaves : 24 - PL - 14 CL - 10

In my organization employee on probation has only been allotted with 2 leaves for 6 months at the same time , incase if they take more than that , according to senior authorities suggestion we are not suppose to deduct it from salary , we will a lot them the leave and deduct the same from the leave balance when ever they complete the period of probation .
My question goes here, like how do I maintain the leave record data for same ?

Dear member,

Is your company covered under the Shops and Establishment Act or Factory Act?

Before answering your query on how to maintain records of employee leave, first, let me suggest you check whether you comply with either act as applicable to you. This is because I doubt whether either act will allow two days' leave in six months. In the state of Karnataka, it is one day of leave per month.

Secondly, the plural for "employee leave" is not "employee leaves". Yes, the word "leave" has a plural but not in the context of our use.

Lastly, maintaining the records of employee leave. What type of software do you use? Nowadays, employee attendance is linked to the software and even ordinary software has a provision to calculate employee leave. You just have to specify the rules of the employee leave to the software agency.

In many companies, the leave records are displayed on the employee's salary slip. Four columns are mentioned, i.e., leave carried forward from the previous month, leave availed of (in the month), leave credited (in the month) and balance leave at the end of the month.

Thanks,

Dinesh Divekar
