If you have not handled any team directly, then what will be your answer for the interview question as HR professional,"Tell me about the teams you have directly managed, and how you built them?

Dear Das500,

If you have not handled the team directly, however, if you are asked a question, "Tell me about the teams you have directly managed, and how you built them? then better to tell that as of now you have not handled a team directly. However, I have seen how my past or existing managers managed their team. Later you may quote 1-2 observations.

Thanks,

Hello Das500,

If you lie, the interviewer will probably throw another question or ask for any evidence for the same. Things will get messy this way, and you can even lose your dream job/opportunity. So, it is better not to take any risks.

Like an old saying, honesty is the best policy.

That means you should always be honest while answering interview questions.

If you have not managed any team in the past, just let them know the truth. But, at the same time, share your knowledge of team management with the interviewer. Make sure you do enough homework a day or two before your interview.

Even though you do not have relevant experience in team management, your honesty, as well as learning, will certainly impress them. Not to forget, be confident while answering the question.

I hope this answer helps you get through your interview. All the best.
