Dear Friends, Am working in a reputed manufacturing company, Has 50 workman union employees are working. Their Memorandum of settlement has expired on 31-03-2020. During the lockdown, we have paid the full salary around 2 months without any deduction. We have a huge loss this year. Again and again, they are asking about their increments submitting their demands.
We have explained union president and members the situation of the pandemic we are unable to give increments during this financial year but still, they have not convinced. In this pandemic situation, we have any provisions by law to with held increments during this year. In the upcoming year definitely, we will take care. Please advise in this regard.

Dear Anil,
Your company's problem in the backdrop of COVID-19 situation is very well understood by onlookers like me. But the workmen and their trade union, though they are well of the critical situation, their insistence for pay hike now may be a tactics to get some sort of interim relief. Try to postpone the revision of wages for at least two years by promising some interim relief.
