I am an HR of an It company. Background verification is very important for us. But what if we do not get background verification from employee’s previous company? what can be done in that case?

The purpose of background Verification (BGV) is to know and ascertain his personal traits, behaviour at work, his superior-peer-subordinates relationship , and so many other factors.
These can best be assessed about an employee, by his previous employer (with whom he/she might have spent for years) and this assessment helps the new employer to groom him/her further, for taking up higher responsibilities.
Hence BGV is an important process in the matter of recruitment/selection.

Dear ANNONYMOUS
If I understand your question correctly ,Is your question
A.There is no response to your emails/query about the employment of a candidate ,previously working with them but currently working with your organisation.
or
B. The employer is untraceable/shut down,so you are unable to get in touch with them.
For both the cases, I suggest get back to your candidate and pls ask him to submit email id's/telephone numbers/contact details of his previous managers/ colleagues/Clients or vendors.
