If any person has qualification of Safety officer and as well as welfare officer as per factories act, 1948.
Can one be designated on two posts at the same time in an organization? Is that legal?
Can the same person take responsibility for both?
Please advise and suggest.

Hi No Welfare officer act as a bridge between Mgt and employees and ensure welfare of employees. The primary duty of safety officer is to ensure safety measures are being followed.

I think that performance of other duties by Factory Safety Officers is prohibited under some State Factories Rules. Better check your State Rules.

Safety is an integral part of labour welfare. Both jobs have common objectives. May be seem that there is no problem, from the F. Act and state rules point of view.

Dear Colleague,
Ordinarily ,same person cannot hold two statutory functions as the F Act and Rules provide for distinct qualifications and eligibility conditions for both.
I don't see this is possible unless one person holds both the qualifications and passes muster with the Factory authorities .
