Many members of Citehr are suggesting that healthcare / hospital industry comes under factory act also. I would appreciate some clarification on the same.

I also work for the Hospital/ Healthcare industry only. You need not to get registered under Factories Act as it is supposed to be done by the units which comes under manufacturing of the product.
Factories Act of 1948 clearly says that in any premises when 10 employees along with power (electric), or 20 employees without power (electric) engaged in manufacturing process they have to get registered under factories act.

Hospitals and Nursing home in Karnataka are exempted from shop and establishment Act and as such the provisions of Factories Act are not applicable. There has been separate enactment for hospitals and Nursing Homes but till date no Rules have been made and hence the provisions of the Act are not applicable.

Dear Mr.Harshit
As per section 3 of the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishment Act nothing in this Act shall apply to any establishment for treatment or care of the sick,infirm or the mentally unfit and hence, in Karnataka the provisions of the Act are not applicable.
