I have 8 years of experience and previously worked for Capgemini, TCS, IBM and Linde Group. In Linde for initial one year I was in direct contract with the company and later got permanent in the same company. So for initial one year Linde did not generate any payslip since they did not deduct PF contribution but once I got permanent I started getting payslips.
For initial one year I have Bank statement, Form 16A (since Linde deducted TDS), Form 26AS, Offer Letter and Experience Letter. Now I joined Cognizant and seen in their portal there is an option to upload all previous employer's payslips. Will it create any problem in Background Verification if I cannot provide those 7 years old payslips?

First of all let me say that in such posts you should avoid using the company names.
It is a very bad HR practice to ask the employees to show the payslips or upload the previous pay slips. But when it is practiced by large and reputed companies, nobody questions it. It is required just to fix the pay of the candidate. But for that what the HR should do is to take the words of the candidate and if you are okay with his demand or if he is okay with what you offer hire him, otherwise drop him. When it is is a case of very reputed organisation, I would say that such organisations will definitely have a pay scale, grades and competency matrix and there is no need of even asking how much is your present salary but you can straight away offer the package depending upon the competency of the candidate.
Now having demanded that you should upload the payslips, you can upload the pay slips available. I don't think any person will be keeping all the payslips in his computer but it is saved or downloaded whenever there is any requirement for that. Now a days you can easily take 26AS which is even accepted by at par with your pay slips even by the banks when you go for any loan. Therefore, you may upload whatever is available and tell them that payslips are downloaded from the HR site as and when required and now it is not possible to get it because you don't have access to it and see if they would accept 26AS.

Hi Madhu, Thanks for your feedback. My question, can Form16A be shown as a proof of Payment/salary from employer for contract employees?

That is not a proof of relationship but in the absence any payslips you can use it. It is good if you take 26AS which is more explanatory because the monthly payout is shown in it whereas the form 16A is a consolidation of for a year
