I am pursuing B.E (Computer Science) final yr. I got placement in TCS this year.
I am in a dilemna...
whether to join TCS or do MBA (IT/Systems) :?:
(I want to be at technical line...that's why if I would be doing MBA, then it would be in IT/Systems only.)
Please suggest me....
MBA(IT/Systems) (full time) or MBA(IT/Systems) (Part time) after joining TCS?
What are the scope of part time and distance learning MBA's?
waiting for your precious comments..

Hi

Prioritise your current need, are you in need of a job, can you do without being employed, take up further studies and then go ahead for a job etc.

Good that you got placed in TCS, opportunities will flow in also, when you will do an MBA as you will have double professional qualification (degrees i meant). there are people who work after BE, take part time MBA courses (one of my colleagues was pursuing from NMIMS).

Its up to you to decide, if you want to give it a try to work in TCS and side by side pursue part time MBA. No personal issues / problems like financial constraints etc then you can wait a while. Else, you will have to prepare yourself to work very hard, manage the job and studies as well.

Some companies prefer candidates who have done Full time MBA, some consider just the degree (part time/full time/correspondence, doent matter). See if you can seek part time admission, take up teh job, if at all you feel you cannot manage, you can always leave the job.

final decision is yours.

Best Luck.

thanks for your valueable response Ambika.
Suppose I am doing MBA (part time or distance) (IT/Systems) and along with my job at TCS. Then after completion of my MBA, will my company offer me a salary or position hike?
and one more question..
My intention is to work as a System Analyst, for that i personally think that i should do MBA .
as I am a computer science engineering student, shall I go for SAP training instead of going for MBA (Systems), inorder to achieve that post?

SAP is very much in demand. honestly, choice is yours Prateek.
after completion of MBA, some organisations will not immediately hike your salary or promote yopu, but will definately consider during your appraisal time.
as soon as you complete your MBA, inform your seniors/immediate repoting boss, HR that you have paseed MBA. and do not forget to give a copy of the certificate to HR. also make necessary changes in your bio-data - your additional/professional qualification....

that's absolutely fine madam...
thanks for all your suggestions...
well I am planning to go for TCS, then according to demand I will do MBA.
I am ending up with my Engineering in june 2008, and I will get my joining probably in October, meanwhile i will get undergo a training in SAP (ERP), so that company might associate me with a SAP project.
I will give MHCET in jan 2008, and if i get a good college, I will do MBA(IT/Systems)
I hope I m on a right path...

Good decision. A person who has some experience (3 yrs or so) before doing an MBA will benefit much more from the course. TCS is one of the finest IT companies in India - Congratulations on your selection!!!

Dear Prateek,
congratulations that u've decided to join TCS, since that a dream company for no. of aspirants
well i'm a student at ICFAI Business School and w.r.t my experience here i'll recommend u to go with an MBA in finance(majors) since u already being a technical expertise n will going to join where ur work involves development of softwares basically for the banking and financial institutions
so after an MBA u can join any of the banks at a decent pkg above 7-8 lakhs and going thru yr message i felt like that may be an MBA from ICFAI (dist learning) can be a good option for u..
