Recently i have been interviewed with a company for a senior position. It started like below:
Step 1 : Phone screening by hr executive
Step 2 : Scheduled telephonic round with Hr Head ( Last about 45 mins )
Step 3 : Scheduled Face- to-face with C.O.O ( Lasted about 45 mins to 1 hr ) in a hotel. The COO asked me to share my portfolio that he had gone through interview. i didn't find anything negative during the conversation.
I sent Thank you mail with my portfolio to hr who needs to forward to COO. Hr Executive said she did.
After that no reply on status, waited for 10 days and tried to reach hr but no response so i sent a text stating 'thank you for the opportunity and seems like i am not in to the position so i am not getting response'.
Immediate moment i got a call from her and told me that they are waiting for their Chairman schedule as i have to meet him in person for the next round. this information she told me about 10 days again there is a radio silence. Not sure what to think.
Can some expert here help me to understand whether i am IN or OUT of it.
Why this happens in most of the interviews, Even candidate spends his time and money but why Hr people do not bother to communicate.
Your valuable suggestions would highly regarded.

Dear Praveen,
If you have gone through two rounds of interviews, one by HR Head and another by COO then it shows that you must have applied for some senior position. Going further, if you had call from secretary telling you that there could be interview by Chairman shows that you are through with earlier two rounds. However, interview with the Chairman did not happen though 10 days have passed.
From the sequence of events that you have described, I draw the following inference:
a) The company appears to owner driven and it is not just owner driven heavily owner driven. For what designation have you applied? Please ask question to yourself on whether it merits interview by Chairman for this designation.
b) Why even COO is not empowered to take decision on the selection of the candidate? Is yours C-level appointment? This shows that the Chairman does not delegate the power and the company has heavily centralised power structure.
c) If the Chairman could not interview you, then COO or at least HR Head should have spoken with you explaining the delay. Their silence speaks volumes. This is purely unprofessional approach by both, COO and HR Head. Their silence shows the mental disconnect between Chairman and these two authorities. Neither HR Executive has sent you any mail. This shows the company does not have culture of communication.
Final comments: - Now it is whether it is your call whether to rely on this company. I recommend you conducting market research and generate information on psychology of the Chairman. By chance if you fail to align with the culture of the company, you could land in trouble. Therefore, be cautious!
Thanks,
