Dear HR Experts, please clarify :-
a) Can we pay stipend to Apprentices over & above the designated limit mentioned by the Apprentices council and What would be the statutory liability if we pay stipend over & above the designated limit?

From India , Chandigarh
Dear Krissh,
Yes you can pay over and above the statutory limit of stipend but only thing which will not applicable is refund from apprenticeship board. After completion of successful apprenticeship training employer can claim the stipend amount from apprenticeship board while that time board will consider only as per specified limits.

Thanks Manoj.. Does an employer need to contribute for PF & ESIC on the differential amount i.e; over & above the designated limit. Thanking you in anticipation.

Dear Krissh, If you are paying the amount as stipend which is over and above the specified limit then also you need not to contribute to PF or ESIC for apprentice.

Dear Mr Manoj, Please note that "Apprentices" are covered under ESI as per Employees’ State Insurance (Amendment) Act, 2010.Please Peruse the attachment, which is self explanatory
