Need a suggestion from you. I have received an offer from my past company to join again and I have agreed to it. They said they were happy with my performance and would like me to stay with them for a long period. I would like to know is it good idea to rejoin a old company.

Mandy.... In case your exit was clear with out any issues, you are comfortable while your stay with the company, the working environment is good, your pay package is good then there is no wrong in rejoining.
As far as long period stay is concerned I opine that you should clearly communicate them as far as you are satisfied with the work environment, your pay package etc., you will continue but at the same time you should assure a minimum period like 1 / 2 yrs and to be strict to that.
Thanks and regards

Examine why you left?
Have those reasons been addressed?
What is the offer you have got from same company now?
Any reason to call you back?
AS per you record was good but you left, then at that stage why company did not hold you back or try to change your mind?
How much time has passed since you left/
How are things with your current employer-career wise, learning wise.
Take a holistic view in long term
Planning to leave after one year or so does not make sense

its a good news because though you left it, they are willing to take you back again. this means you are so demanding and profitable to them that they get affected in loosing you. so indirctly, you get a permanent job from them and your any demand will be pleasured by them. be happy, you are the hero..
