You may insist upon salary slip as it is a statutory necessity, prescribed in Form XIII of Payment of Wages Act 1948, so also as per Section 13A of the Payment of Wages Act 1936, the employer is required to maintain register of wages paid including the details of deductions made for a period of three years. So the employer will be required to produce such records to the Labour authorities and a copy thereof can be obtained.
It is difficult to understand what useful purpose is served by denying the salary slip. The feudal legacy is continuing in spite of being a "Welfare State" for the last nearly 70 years. Are you paid in cash or paid through Bank? Is PF & ESI deductions made?Is there any attendance recording system? Is there any other evidence of the factum of employment?
