Dear Friend Monika,

UGC - NET is an Exam conducted by University Grants Commission widely known as national eligibility test. After completing any post graduation with 55% marks you can appear for the examination.

Remember that UGC-NET is only an examination and it is not a course or degree.

This examination is a certificate which gives you the eligibility to be appointed as a lecturer in any University or Aided Colleges.

This examination is 1 Full day examination which consists of 3 papers. Two objective type exams and 1 descriptive exam. 1 objective examination consists of general teaching eligibility which is common for all the subjects and the other objective type exam is about the subject you opted. Afternoon session is one descriptive exam which is your opted subject.

Yearly 2 examinations will be there ie, in december and May. since the application time for the december exam is over you can apply for the May exam. the application call for will come mostly during Feb-march for the may exams.

I think your doubts are some what cleared.

regards

Manoj Pillai
